Guest Post - Young Women Craft Idea, Etching Glass Tutorial

Hey! This is Markell from A Mouse In My Kitchen. I am super excited for this opportunity I have to guest post for Poppy Seed Projects. I have had an amazing time working with this company and I am a really excited about the tutorial I am going to show you today.

So, today I am going to teach you how to use the new Daughter of God vinyl {available in 12" and 5" squares} from Poppy Seed Project’s store to etch a mirror. I think my sister showed me how to do this a few years ago. We originally used it to etch names onto casserole dishes. I decided to try it on a mirror and ended up loving the way it looked. We did this a little while ago with the young women group in my ward and it was a HUGE hit.

Funny story. My husband is the one who actually did the “craft” part of this project. I had to be out of town when the vinyl got to my house, so he agreed to do it for me. What a good husband, huh? He went a little crazy with the pictures though. It turns out that it is really hard to take a picture of a mirror without getting yourself in it, so he decided to not even try to hide himself. I hope you all enjoy that!

Monday Morning Madness – YW 2013 Theme Projects

    
This one is for all you ladies planning New Beginnings, or heck for those of you who are really on top of it and are planning girls camp.  It’s also for all you ladies with teenage daughters. . .or boys, we aren’t opposed to you buying craft kits for your teenage boys.

We did the design a little differently this year.   You can either leave the print as a square and layer it with scrap book paper, or you can cut out the circle for a different twist.

GIRLS CAMP KIT CONTEST - WINNER!!

This was going to be a contest open to voting, but there were only two entries and one was going to Girls Camp this past week. Ha! That will teach us to do a girl's camp contest after 90% of the wards out there have already gone. We'll do better next year!

As stated in the earlier post this poster was created an 11x14, but you can of course print it in a smaller (or even MUCH smaller version if needed). 

We’ve already had such great feedback & have been sent so many great ideas.  We would LOVE to hear your plans and ideas for the poster!

Help Us Decide

We created these two new prints to be used on a new set of new 2”x3” LDS YW locker magnets.  What we are wondering is if it is just enough to catch their eye and remind them of something bigger, OR if more needs to be said to get the point across.  Let us know what you think.
