Top Ten Things & a GIVEWAY

{Here’s a sneak peak of the give away so you don’t have to be in suspense the whole time}

Last Friday was my birthday, but really I was too busy enjoying a day of doing nothing to write a blog post (really when your birthday is on Jan, 4th there is no reason to stop celebrating the holidays until your birthday is over.)  But I do think that a birthday is the perfect time to share a little about myself, and if you have to put up with hearing about me don’t you think you deserve an award?  I do.  So how about a giveaway.



I know this might be shocking, but I actually do enjoy things besides just crafts and kids, so hear are ten things I bet you don’t know about me, in no particular order.

#1 I LOVE Coke, preferably vanilla coke, but a regular ice cold coke, or a cherry coke will do.  Favorite coke . . .Sonic’s Vanilla Coke, and while where at it let’s add a side of cheese cake bites. YUM!


#2 I CAN NOT, and I mean absolutely can not sleep with shorts on.  I hate the feeling of my legs touching each other when I am sleeping, and yes even if they are freshly shaved and smooth as a baby bum.  It’s long pants year round for me.  I know weird.

#3 I love to garden, especially in the spring.  Planting is my favorite part, I love putting those little baby flowers in the ground and watching my yard turn from drab to a colorful delight. I do hate to weed though, I leave that part to my hubbie. He has an obsession with cleanliness and organization, and weeds are not considered clean or organized. 



#4 I love playing the piano, I suck at it but, I love it.

#5 I am also crappy at sewing, but I also really enjoy it as well.  It would help immensely if I could cut a straight line.

#6 I also enjoy cooking, but this one I think I am actually fairly good at, at least a tiny bit.  I do burn stuff all the time though, I get distracted really easy.  My favorite cook books/blogs. . . .

#7 I have a Down Syndrome sister.  Remember Corky from Life Goes On (if you have know idea what I am talking about, don’t ask. . .it really dates me).  My sister is NOT the happy go lucky Downs kid like Corky.  Most of her favorite words are not words I am willing to put in print and the first thing she usually says to me is, “Take your dumb kids and go home.”  What do you do?  I still love her to pieces.

#8  If you follow us closely on FB than you may know this one. I HATE mornings.  I am semi nocturnal and would much rather stay up late than wake up early.  I almost never go to be before one {It’s past midnight while I am writing this}.  In high school my sister and I got ready in the mornings in separate bathroomsbecause I was so onry. . .sorry Juel’s. 

#9  I have never had a nickname.  Well not NEVER, a few people that are really close to me  call me Holls, which I love but really that’s just a shortcut for saying my name, not a nickname.  Oh and ONE roommate in college called me Holly Paint Can (my maiden name is Painter) but I don’t really think one person calling you something weird count's.  I’ve always wanted a cool nickname.

#10 I LOVE ribbon.  It is my opinion that ribbon can make anything more beautiful.
