Monday Midnight Madness – Farmer’s Market Chalk Board Plaque {DIY Chalk Board Art}

Every year we have one or two projects that are crazy popular, from what I have seen so far these Chalkboard Plaques are the “it” project of 2013.  So if you are looking for a Super Saturday (or any other type of craft event) project I would highly recommend this one, they are easy, inexpensive and a wide variety of holidays to choose from.

This week the deal is "spend $20.00 receive a FREE Farmer’s Market Chalkboard Plaque."

Midnight Monday Madness - Holiday Craft Collections {Free Happy Harvest Block}

Super Saturday Holiday Craft Ideas
So I am going to take a stab in the dark here and guess you are not thinking holidays… right? More likely you are doing some back to school shopping and cramming in some last minute summer fun, except you year rounders, you are already in the thick of things…counting down the days until your next break (for better or worse).

Monday Madness – Fourth of July Subway Art Plaque

Today  Monday Madness is also an introduction to a new line of another really simple and inexpensive Subway Art Plaques (similar to the same concept as the Chalk Board Plaques).  The craft kits includes a plaque, a print and easy to follow step by step instructions.  This first addition to this new line is two 4th of July Plaques…but there are plans to add a plaque or two for every holiday.

October Show and Tell

Show and Tell posts are always my favorite. This month I had TONS of pictures sent in.  LOVED THEM ALL!!   It is always rewarding to see people create something cute from one of our craft projects.  Here are a few of my favorite (emphasis on a few, there were too many to include them all)

Let's start off with some cute Halloween projects. Seriously could these ladies have used cuter paper for these Witch Layered Plaques?  Doesn’t get better than damask and polka dots. . .

Seriously the tree and birds on this paper could not be better accents for  the vinyl from the project.

A Collection of Cute Ideas

No guest post this week, sorry!  BUT instead I thought it would be fun to show some of my favorite post by various bloggers featuring Poppy Seed Projects.  Most of them are fantastic tutorials, or great decorating tips.
Becky from The Crafting Chicks uses our Carson frame for her easy tutorial on how to paint stripes on a frame using painters tape.

Vivienne from The V Spot Blog .com features one of our all time most popular plaques, the Hello Sunshine Plaque to show how she turned a mistake into one of my all time favorite plaques.

Subway Art Plaque into Darling Photo Display!!

Hi, I'm Sarah and I blog over at The Winthrop Chronicles. I am so happy to be with you here today at Poppy Seed Projects! I am always looking for new diy and crafting ideas, and I have seen so many great things here at Poppy Seed Projects, I am thrilled to share one with you.

I love taking pictures and have so many lying around. I wanted to make something where I could display my photos but in a very temporary way so that I could switch them out often. I went to Poppy Seed Projects and saw this subway art plaque and knew it would be perfect. I also ordered the texture cream because it was recommended. Just a few days later I received this in the mail.

There were great detailed instructions included that helped me to create the subway art plaque.

The first step being to apply the texture cream which I did in horizontal lines.

Then after that dried, I painted the board white, with two coats. When that dried, I put the stencil on and painted the orange color on top. After that completely dried, I removed the stencil and then sanded the board with some sandpaper to give it a distressed look.

To turn the subway art plaque in to the photo and message board, I hot glued some thin wire to the back of the board.

 I used the little clothes pins to pin on the photos. You could also pin on a little note card or message. Or put it in your kitchen and hang up your recipes.

Thank you Poppy Seed Projects for the inspiration. Make sure to stop by my blog The Winthrop Chronicles to say hi sometime!

AND THAT IS WHY I LOVE GUEST POSTS!!  I never in a million years would have thought of something like this.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!  How cute for a teenager room.  I am so doing this in my boys room (with something a little more boyish of course) to hang above there desk!

SNAP Show and Tell

You may have read various mentions of Snap in the blogging world, and I bet some of you are wondering, what the crap is Snap?  Well it is a blogging conference that is specifically for “Creative Bloggers”,  ie craft and DYI blog sites.

We where excited to be asked to teach a hands on craft class.  Our only instructions where to do something innovative and new, a  tricky task when you are teaching a class to some of the leading crafters in the bloging world, they are not only in tune with the trends, they usually set them (:

We decided to teach a class using the texturizing cream as a medium to create an antiqued look like we do on our Subway Art Plaques.  Our goal for the class was for everyone to go away, not with some dinky project, but an AWSOME finished project they could take home and hang on their walls.
To accomplish this Kim and I spent a couple of weeks designing several different projects, here is what made the final cut

Three new Subway Art Plaques.
