Today we are sharing a fun idea to make a monograms look metallic using ALUMINUM FOIL and Mod Podge and Poppy Seed's MDF Letters!  It’s easy and quick, and the end result is stunning.  It will be a great conversation piece in your home as well.  Are you ready for the simple tutorial?  Here you go!

1 Monogram letter with tine foil

Supply List:
-Monogram Letter
-Aluminum Foil
-Mod Podge (I used Glossy)
-Paint Brush

2 instructions to mod podge tin foil
Instructions:
1.  Crinkle various sizes of foil.  Smooth them out and lay them in a pile.
2.  Paint on a generous layer of Mod Podge.
3.  Tear the size of foil you need from your crinkled piles and lay it on the Mod Podged section.  {NOTE: The thinner you make the pieces the easier they are to wrap around the curves of the letter. With the straight parts of the letter it doesn’t really matter how fat or thin they are.}
4.  Paint a layer of Mod Podge on top of the foil and smooth with your finger.

It’s best to work in small sections and work your way around the letter.  Since mine was going to hang on the wall, I didn’t worry much about covering the back on the monogram with the foil.

Metallic Letter Texture with Tin Foil

I love the texture the foil creates along with giving the metallic look I wanted!  I am thrilled with how it turned out.  You have to try this technique on your next wood project.  You will be blown away by how cool it looks.
