Guest Post - Personalized Cork Board Tutorial

Hello!  I'm Mariah and you can find me over at Giggles Galore, making the ordinary extraordinary one smile at a time!  I'm a multi-tasking
mom to 3 active kids, a craft junkie and a party enthusiast.  I'm excited to be here at Poppy Seed Projects today sharing my Personalized Memo Board.

I love the Eleanor Frame and wanted to find a way to use it in my daughter's new 'big girl' room.  I finally decided my daughter need a pretty place to keep her special treasures, pictures and mementos and I knew I wanted to turn the frame into a memo board, but I also wanted to jazz it up a bit.  To personalize it I asked family members to send me 5 adjectives that they thought best described my daughter.  I LOVE how it turned out!

Here is what you'll need to make your own:

- Poppy Seed Project shaped frame

- spray paint

- vinyl

- cork roll

- cardboard

- spray adhesive

- xacto knife

- embellishments (push pins, flowers, ect.)

1. Start by spray painting the frame whatever color you want the text to be.  I used white for my base coat.

2. Cut out the words in vinyl using a Cricut or other personal cutting machine.  Arrange them on the frame and adhere to the front of the frame.  (Hint: for projects like this I like to use contact paper, it's cheaper than using my good stuff.)

3. Next, paint the entire frame with your desired color, I used a bright pink to match my daughter's room.  You'll be spray painting over the words so make sure they are stuck down and there aren't any gaps.

4. Carefully remove the vinyl to reveal the white words.  Use an xacto knife to gently peel up the edges and remove the vinyl

5. Cut a piece of cardboard and cork to fit in the opening of the frame.  Attach the cork to the cardboard using spray adhesive.

6. Secure the memo board in place using heavy duty staples.

7. Distress or embellish frame with flowers and rhinestones if desired.

8. Add cute push pins, special mementos and enjoy.

Thank you so much for letting me visit today and share my Personalized Memo Board!  I'd love for you to stop by my blog, Giggles Galore sometime to say hi!

  1. Beautiful! I have this very frame and it's been sitting there waiting to be done up. I love what you did and I might have to do something similar!
